“Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel,
I hope that you choose not to be a lady.
I hope you will find some way to break the rules
and make a little trouble out there.
And I also hope that you will choose
to make some of that trouble on behalf of women.”
~ Nora Ephron, 1941-2012 ~

Whatever it is your belief, women need to stand up now.
Last week in Italy there was again the settlement of a new government. – Curiosity: if we take into account all the Italian governments from Mussolini to nowadays, we obtain an average length of one year and some months each, even including the twenty years of fascism! – The new premier chose a team of 16 ministers, 8 males and 8 females, to help him in the job. Great, you would say, wonderful! An exact number to support equality between genders. Unfortunately, one of the ministries to be canceled compared to those of the previous government, was the Ministry of Equal Opportunities. And this is not only something about women. This is about ethnic and religious minorities, LGBT movements, even disabled people. That part of the society that struggles more to obtain a place, place that s/he deserves, simply because we are all humans.
So, whatever it is your belief, I hope you will find the courage to break the rules. To sit at the table.
And not to let our societies tell us what we are.
“No, uncle [Sam], who you are defines what you do.”
